Waste management will be started at Kramat Jati Central Market, East Jakarta
President Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Aried Nasrudin stated, his side will manage organic waste using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) bioconversion technology to produce animal protein and biological fertilizer.
"Waste management will be started at Kramat Jati Central Market, East Jakarta. It is potential to produce 80 tons of waste per day. It is quite a lot, but if this project could run successfully, we will increase our target into 500 tons," he asserted, Wednesday (12/18).
Menteng Formapel to Develop Maggot Cultivation to Decompose Organic WasteThis technology, he assessed, could provide solution to process the organic waste economically while reducing the waste volume in Bantar Gebang Landfill.
BSF bioconversion method can only be used for household waste, leftover from fruits and vegetables, industrial and food waste, waste from agricultural, plantation, livestock, fishery and slaughterhouse activities. Products that can be produced from this method is organic liquid fertilizer, organic compost, and maggot for animal feed.
"For operational model of 1 tons per day, we need specific land as wide as 300 square meters. We will start it in market with enough land for this method," he said.
The benefits of BSF bioconversion are this method can produce protein and fat, also bio-stimulant content of larvae. Besides, it can produce fertilizer that is more environmentally friendly, and it can be processed further for bio-industry and the maggot can be used for bio fuel.
Through this MoU, he expected this method can solve waste issues in Jakarta. According to him, Pasar Jaya can produce waste up to 600 tons a day from total 153 markets in Jakarta. Thus he hopes this innovation can be a solution in managing waste in Jakarta.
"Hopefully in the future we can process 5,000 tons of waste in Jakarta per day," he asserted.
